About the Mountainside Elks

Welcome to Mountainside NJ Lodge #1585 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks! We are a proud and growing Lodge with many opportunities to support the local Mountainside and surrounding community.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a premier charitable organization chartered in 1868. Our local Lodge has provided millions of dollars in charitable support over the last half century, supporting everything from local student scholarships and veterans initiatives to sending special needs children at no cost to Camp Moore, the NJ State Elks Special Project, which is specifically designed for children with physical and developmental challenges.

We are led by a strong core of dedicated volunteers who work in committees to run events and raise funds—and we’re looking for more active local residents who would consider joining our 200-member base. We need your help so we can double down on the creative, dedicated workstreams we have in place to bring to life on a daily basis here in Mountainside the core mission of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the USA, which states:

To inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to recognize a belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its Members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; to perpetuate itself as a fraternal organization, and to provide for its government, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America will serve the people and communities through benevolent programs, demonstrating that Elks Care and Elks Share.

We are tremendously proud of our small yet thriving Lodge and our Lodge leadership led by recently elected Exalted Ruler and Mountainside resident  John Cozzali. We would love to tell you more about our charitable endeavors and ways you can quickly become an active, impactful member of our rapidly growing community.

We hope to see you here in the Lodge soon!
